Maritimo M64: First Look Video
The 2017 Maritimo M64 is a highly customizable model that fills out the skylounge line for this Australian builder.
The Maritimo 440 is one of the smallest enclosed flybridge boats around, and now the Australian builder has added a fifth model, the M64, to its line of enclosed flybridge designs—which stretch all the way up to a 70-footer. The M64 will be a good fit for boaters who want all the luxury and customization options of the company’s flagship, but don’t want to commit to running and berthing a 70 foot yacht.
The M64’s appeal is clear as soon as you step aboard. The amount of interior space is impressive because the entire main deck is dedicated to the saloon and galley. Since the helm station is on the flybridge above, there’s additional room below for a starboard side straight settee in addition to the L-shaped dinette to port. For both Americans and Australians, the aft galley is an entertainer’s dream. Not only is it packed with Miele appliances and a full-sized refrigerator, its location places it at the center of a nice flow between inside and outside with fully-opening folding glass and stainless-steel doors.
The staircase to the flybridge is internal and Maritimo sees this as a differentiator from its competition. Internal stairs (as well as the high walk-around side decks) are a safety feature, especially when running offshore in rough seas. Up top, the command station has two bucket seats behind a dash complete with triple Simrad MFDs. A straight sofa is outboard, aft of the helm seats, and together with the ottoman, it forms a lounge around a folding table. Aft-facing companion seating is across from the helm to port. Another folding door opens up onto the surprisingly large aft patio. This makes effectively two separate and complete interior entertaining areas which will work for large groups, families and guests who just want bit of privacy.
The M64 is powered by twin Volvo Penta D13 900 HP diesels with shaft drives. Pod drives are not an option but with a bow thruster and an aft cockpit command station with joystick control, maneuvering and backing into a tight slip should be easy.
Maritimo’s trademark is customization and there are a number of ways to personalize this vessel. You can choose from three cabins and three heads or four cabins and two heads. Other options include convertible berths, moveable tables and a wet bar. Outside there are three transom finish options including the traditional Maritimo island, a Euro-style aft end, or a cockpit suitable for sportfishing. Interior finishes are also left up to the owner, but a popular version seems to be a high-gloss walnut finish that reflects the abundant and subtle lighting.
