The marine industry will once again have the opportunity to show off its website innovations at the "boats.com Marine Industry web site of the year awards" to be presented at the next London Boat Show. Following a highly successful event at Earls Court this year, the awards will receive even more attention at ExCel in January 2004.

In addition to the prestigious Tony Castro designed winners awards, boats.com has commissioned ten runners up versions of the attractive pewter trophies. Boats.com Managing Director Ian Atkins commented "Last year the enthusiasm for the competition was enormous, far greater than we had anticipated. So we have decided to also present prestigious second and third prizes to reflect the dedication and effort that companies have obviously put into ensuring their sites are built to the highest level."

The judges will once again be drawn from both the marine industry and web design experts. Miles Mendoza of the BBC 2 Radio programme Steve Wright in the afternoon, who presents Web Site of the Day, will once again join the judging panel.

Dan Griffey from Laser Sailing, winners of the boat builder category in 2003, commented; "We were particularly pleased to take part in the boats.com web awards as we had invested considerable resources into developing our site and this was an excellent opportunity to gain recognition for our efforts. Selection by the judges for the final short list was a great moment for the team, which put so much effort into building a site, which really works for us. Finally lifting the trophy at London Boat Show was a great moment.

Web sites have become an important shop window for businesses like ours, so careful design and effective interaction is essential to present a better image and enhance sales. We will certainly be entering the Awards again this year and are already reviewing our site for new innovations!"

With over 70 nominations to judge last year, and even more expected this year, the organisers would appreciate entries as soon as possible to allow time for scrutiny. Nominations can be delivered by completing the application on the boats.com web site. The closing date for entries will be October 31st 2003.
